Impulse hammers are used as a means of excitation. For advanced dynamic analysis of machinery mounts, foundations, tanks, bridges, towers and other structures. The hammer is input to one channel of a spectrum analyzer and a response accelerometer is used on another. Cross channel measurements are performed by the analyzer to search for resonance frequencies, mode shapes and other dynamic characteristics of the structure under test.
